Speaker 1:

So we, as children of God, and I want to encourage you that we can't be selfish with this stuff. When I mean this stuff, I'm talking about the gospel. I'm talking about opening our mouths. I'm talking about being bold for the sake of the gospel. I'm talking about Utilizing your platform or using your social media Whatever that you got, that that God can use to bring him the glory that men and women could be saved. That's what you have to do. So we, we've brought numerous of people on to share their God-given journey, their God-given story, how they became saved. Because, adne, I could tell you one thing when God saved me from darkness, mm-hmm, god didn't just save me just so I could stop clubbing or Cussing or doing all those sinful acts. That was an opposition to his word-willing way. Welcome to the call by God podcast with Adne Godin and myself, nixon Sylvain. This show is about dialogues of biblical characters and testimonies of Christians who submitted to the will of God. Each week, we bring on one guest so that they can share their story how they were called by God. I hope this show inspires you. Enjoy, hello and welcome world to the call by God podcast. I'm yours truly, brother Nick, and I'm here with sister Adne Godin how you doing on this blessed day, sis.

Speaker 2:

Brother Nick, I am doing amazing. And I'm saying I'm doing amazing because God is good, right, no matter what is going on, he's still good, he's still true, he's still merciful and still so kind. And I'm still here on assignment, right as long as there's breath In my lungs. That mean God. That means that God is not done with me. So I'm doing amazing. How are you?

Speaker 1:

Same here. I'm amazing, I am, I'm feeling great, it don't matter what's going on in my world. I've had to learn over the years I need to praise them when I'm up and praise them when I'm down, because weeping me and door for a night. But I heard the Bible says but joy, joy coming to the morning. So we know in this life that we all would have trouble. But Jesus Christ said be of good cheer. So he have overcome all things. So we just thankful to God. So I'm just so thankful for his word. That's a source of encouragement in my life, at ease. So I'm, I'm blessed, I'm blessed and even if I, if I wasn't good, I'll say I'm not good, but I'll sound blessed. I said it. Say that in the same voice. I'm good, I'm not too new, too well, but I'm still blessed, bless, bless to not be in too well, because you know, um, I once heard somebody say that, man, you know, when I feel pain, that's an indication that I'm still here, that God ain't done with me. Yet I still can feel pain. Yeah, you ought to be in trouble. You don't feel pain, um, or or any kind of movement. That's when you oughta. Yeah, that means you done crossed over, your assignment is done. So it's a good thing to be used by God. So I'm excited. But adding this is the finale, the finale of Joseph, as I mentioned in other episodes. I man adding you know we were finally finishing Genesis. We've been touching on these biblical characters for what? Two years and some change two years and some change and this is the finale, not only with Joseph, but this is the finale with the book of Genesis, unless, unless if you want to go back and touch on any other character that we haven't touched on. But I think, I think we're good. I think we probably got another character, don't we?

Speaker 2:

I think we missed it one character and we haven't spoken about her.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah that's dynast.

Speaker 2:

So okay we're definitely gonna have a good discussion. Even if I got to do the discussion by myself, I will do it.

Speaker 1:

I'm gonna join you.

Speaker 2:

I'm gonna join you people need to know about Sister Diana.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we, we can't forget about the sisters now, we? Good, so this is not the finale of Genesis, okay, good, it's good to know. So we're gonna go back and we're gonna, yeah, talk about sister. Oh, diana, is it Diana or Dina Diana?

Speaker 2:

Diana.

Speaker 1:

Dina, okay, perfect, all right. Well, this is the finale of Joseph, so I'm gonna go. We're gonna talk about Joseph just briefly, since this is the finale. We're gonna talk about what we learned and what was the whole theme and the the whole purpose of Joseph. So I want to start off by saying this before adding to read the scripture and have your Bible's ready, because adding is gonna read Genesis, chapter 50, verses 15 Through 21. But before she do so, this is what I want to say while we wrap up this whole episode about Joseph. So this last chapter is that Jacob and his family. They settled in the land of Goshen because, going back to chapter 6. We didn't talk about it, but Joseph ended up moving all his family from the land of Canaan to the land of Egypt. Because we know what happened he was a famine and Joseph wanted to see his dad and he reconciled with his whole family. Initially he reconciled with all his brothers. Then, of course, he missed his dad like any Sun would. So he missed his dad, so he sent for his dad. So when he sent for his dad, he sent for his whole family. So they had a whole entourage. So they had a land in the land of Goshen, which was in Egypt. So Farrell gave it to them as a place to live and I want you that's, that's historical right there, because this gonna mean a lot when we start reading the book of Exodus. So keep in mind that these Israelites are settled in Goshen, in Egypt, and this is a place that was given by Farrell. So Jacob the father, daddy, daddy, jacob, slash Israel, blessed Joseph sons and he adopted them as his own. So we know Manasseh and Ephraim was half Egyptian, half Israelite. So he adopted Manasseh and Ephraim as his own and he gave them a share of the inheritance alongside with his other brothers. So before Jacob died, slash Israel. He prophesied that Joseph will be fruitful, like be a fruitful vine and that his descendants will be a blessing to the world. And After Joseph's death, his legacy as a wise and compassionate leader continued and the Israelites remembered him as a symbol of God's faithfulness and province. But before his death we wanted to kind of zoom in of how the brothers react when, when, when, the daddy died and that's where you come and play at. The ad is gonna read Genesis 50, 15 through 21.

Speaker 2:

And it reads but now that their father was dead, joseph's brothers became fearful. Now Joseph will show his anger and pay us back for all the wrong we did to him, they said. So they sent this message to Joseph Before your father died. He instructed us to say to you please forgive your brothers for the great wrong they did to you, for their sin in treating you so cruelly. So we, the servants of the God of your father, beg you to forgive our sin. When Joseph received the message, he broke down and wept. When his brothers came and threw themselves down before him and sorry, before Joseph, look, we are your slaves, they said. But Joseph replied Don't be afraid of me. Am I God and can I punish you? You attended. You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of so many people. No, don't be afraid, I will continue to take care of you and your children. So he reassured them by speaking kindly to them.

Speaker 1:

Wow, yeah, that's awesome and thank you again for sharing that. So you see how the brothers felt when the daddy died. They really thought that Jacob would punish them because of what they did in the past. And, adne, you know, that shows me that sometimes folks would have forgiven you and sometimes it's hard to even forgive yourself because they're not letting it go. I'm sure Joseph let it go. Like dude, it's over with. Like dude, you don't have to be saying all that. Because they feel like as long as the daddy was around, joseph wouldn't do no harm to us. So they're looking at it like okay, now that the daddy is gone, like Joseph, please, please, forgive us, but I'm sure that Joseph had in his heart, like dude, that stuff is back in the day. I let that stuff go already. And that helps me, adne, that even sometimes the people that we forgive, sometimes they may have that in their heart and sometimes we need to embrace our brother and our sister to reassure them like, hey, it's going to be all right, I let it go. You have to be able to forgive yourself and I think that's one of the hardest things to Adne, like sometimes when a person is very remorseful, sometimes it's hard to let that thing go. What is your observation based on what you just read?

Speaker 2:

Then brother thought Joseph was going to turn to Mrs Slaves and what they did. But the thing, like you just said, when you do wrong to someone and that person shows you kindness and they're forgiving you, it's hard for you to forgive yourself because you know why. You knew if the shoe was on the other foot you would not have been as forgiving, you would not have been as kind, and that's the one thing I had to learn. So let's bring it to modern time. If you did someone wrong and they've forgiven you, they're speaking kind to you. Take a look at your heart, because if you can't forgive yourself, that means that you know what you did was so bad. And if the shoe was on the other foot you would not have forgiven that person for what was done. And like you said, brother Nick, we always have to take an introspective look at ourselves and forgive ourselves, especially if the person has let it go. Stop repeating it. Let it go because they did right. And the beauty of Joseph I love when it says he continued to speak kindly. So, joseph. So he reassured them by speaking kindly to them Like he did his demeanor. Nothing shifted about him. He continued, he stayed the same course, the same way. When he revealed himself to them, cried on their shoulder, he remained that same person. What they saw when they first came was not the person that they are dealing with now, because then Joseph was operating out of his pain. Now he's operating out of his forgiveness right? He's operating in the spirit of reconciliation. Like y'all, my brothers, I'm going to take care of y'all and y'all children. Y'all have nothing to worry about, and that's one thing that we all have to understand, especially, especially in the body of Christ. I loathe when people say blood is thicker than water, and you're dealing with a brother and sister in Christ. You have to understand yes, blood is thicker than water. The blood that is thicker than water is the blood of Jesus that has washed both of you from your sins and has made you brothers and sisters in Christ, your blood relatives. They don't have a heaven or hell to put you in. That is God's job. So you're going to lose. You're going to lose your salvation because your brother or your sister has an ought with another brother in the body, and you know that is not even your fight. Let it go. Do not lose your soul over something that has nothing to do with you. Let God deal with them and let them deal with that situation and reconcile the situation, because this is what Joseph shows us, like understanding who he is in. God gave him a heart of forgiveness for his brothers, gave him a heart of compassion for his brothers, like he spoke kindly to them, and we always have to remember that the blood that is thicker than any blood is the blood that covers us as Christians. Those who have said I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and we went down into that watery grave of baptism, rose again as new creatures, as members of the kingdom of God. That's the water, that's the blood that counts and that's what the Holy Spirit laid on my heart.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, amen. That's well said and I really like chapter 50, verse 20, when it says that and for you, joseph is referring to the brothers. He said you meant evil against me. He said, yeah, you had ill intentions against me, but God meant it for good. To bring it about that, you know, bring it about that many people should be kept alive as they were today. So I like how you have said in the past, adne, that our story is not our story, it's for the betterment of others. And I think sometimes we could be so selfish to keep a lot of things to ourselves, not realizing that, yeah, some of the things that we endure, although maybe good or bad, we know that, according to Romans 8, 28, all things gonna work for the good. And we see that, even though you know things don't start off good or things tend to be work out on the wrong foot, we know that God could change things around. And I like Joseph's story so much because Joseph's story is not about Joseph. I want y'all to you know, take heed to that. Joseph's story is not about Joseph. Okay, how about if I put it this way when you became a Christian, you became a Christian or you become an Christian is not solely for you, only you. Yeah, you're blessed. Yeah, if you die, you're gonna go to a place of rest and wait till the Father come. Yeah. But when God changes us, when God restore us through the ministry of reconciliation, we are back in fellowship with God. God, he restores us in fellowship with Him. So we could take that word, that same seed where the Danes is talking about the soul and the seed we, he put that word in us so we can restore or so we can help others. We see here that Joseph brothers had ill will, they had bad intentions towards him. But God had another plan. God plan was to put Joseph in power. God plan was to put Joseph in leadership. Why? To save Israel. Cause, remember, god has a plan. God's plan is for Jesus is to come through Israel, judah, the tribe of Judah, so that family has to be preserved. So that's God's plan, and God is always interested of His family, his children. So we, as children of God and I want to encourage you that we can't be selfish with this stuff when I mean this stuff, I'm talking about the gospel, I'm talking about opening our mouths, I'm talking about being bold for the sake of the gospel. I'm talking about utilizing your platform or using your social media. Whatever that you got that God can use to bring Him the glory that men and women could be saved. That's what you have to do. So we brought numerous of people on to share their God-given journey, their God-given story, how they became saved. Because, adani, I could tell you one thing when God saved me from darkness, god didn't just save me just so I could stop clubbing or cussing or doing all those sinful acts. That was an opposition to His Word-willing way. God saved me because he knew that he could use me as a vessel to draw many people to Him. And that's the same thing applies to each and every saint, each and every person that called themselves a Christian. That's the requirement. We said this in Epilogue number six. We have the ministry of reconciliation. So anything that's happened bad people may be thinking oh God, I don't know why this happened to me. Oh, why I got in a car accident, why I lost a loved one, why I'm losing my job, why chaos has happened to me. All things work together for the good. That's why it's funny that I said that and I said in the beginning of the show. I said well, weeping man, do it for a night, but joy coming in the morning. Trouble don't last always. We're going to have a little trouble now and then, but God has called you for a bigger purpose. I don't know, adani, that's what God had laid in my heart. When I think about Joseph, I try to make it more relatable and practical, so people could take Joseph's story and they could say well, joseph was deep, joseph was deep. Joseph got so Joseph brothers was about to kill him. Joseph brother hated him to the point where they wanted him dead and they sold him into slavery. He went to prison for being accused of rape and he got put in a position. And not only got put in position, but he was away from his family. He was being raised by a foreign family, a land of Egyptians, and God brought it all back together. That's a beautiful story.

Speaker 2:

What I love is as I'm listening to you speaking and I'm going back into the mind of what Jesus did. It's the same thing. They accused Jesus of being a blasphemer, a liar, a Beelzebub, he said he cast out demons by the spirit of demons. Then their jealousy took them to the next level. Their jealousy took them to the point of Paying one of his closest friends to betray him, get him at the garden and scourge him, slap him, spit on him, then hang him high, stretch him wide. For us, we have endured a pandemic. We're still, whether we believe it or not. There are still remnants of that pandemic going on, because COVID-19 ain't going nowhere. But we have a Savior who's still alive and well, sitting at the right hand of God, and my prayer is that we understand the only reason we are still here on earth is because Jesus does not want anyone to perish, but for all to come to repentance. But there will come a time. There will come a moment when the Father says enough and when he says enough. If you are not found in the number, just know that you will be found in a number and that number that you're found in I pray for you. I pray that God has, and I don't mean to sound morbid, but I pray for you. I really, truly do, and that's what the Holy Spirit laid on my heart to share.
