According to verywellfamily.com, Jacob means “supplanter,” which is often interpreted as someone who seizes, circumvents, or usurps. to deceive/cheat

According to Merriam-Webster, Supplanter- to supersede (another) especially by force or treachery

The Beginning

Gen 25:21 And Isaac prayed to the LORD for his wife, because she was barren. And the LORD granted his prayer, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

Gen 25:22 The children struggled together within her, and she said, “If it is thus, why is this happening to me?” So she went to inquire of the LORD.

To inquire: to put a question : seek for information by questioning
- The Lord Answer
- Gen 25:23 And the LORD said to her, “Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you shall be divided; the one shall be stronger than the other, the older shall serve the younger
Two nations/brothers:
- Jacob: The Israelites Gen 25:27 Jacob was a quiet, plain, peaceful man dwelling in tents
- He could cook
- Rebekah loved Jacob
- Esau: The Edomites (red)- Gen 25:25. The first came out red, all his body like a hairy cloak, so they called his name Esau.

The way to salvation:

Hear: Romans 10:17
Believe: Hebrews 11:6
Repent: Acts 17:30-31
Confess: Matthew 10:32
Be Baptized: Mark 16:15-16
Be faithful unto death: Revelation 2:10
