123. Biblical Dialogue of Jacob, Part 1

What does having a call on your life look like? The simple answer to this question is to follow the discussion between Nic Silvanie and Adnie Gaudin, Genesis 25:19-34

According to verywellfamily.com, Jacob means “supplanter,” which is often interpreted as someone who seizes, circumvents, or usurps. to deceive/cheat

According to Merriam-Webster, Supplanter- to supersede (another) especially by force or treachery

 The Beginning 

Gen 25:21  And Isaac prayed to the LORD for his wife, because she was barren. And the LORD granted his prayer, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

Gen 25:22  The children struggled together within her, and she said, “If it is thus, why is this happening to me?” So she went to inquire of the LORD. 

  • To inquire: to put a question : seek for information by questioning 
    • The Lord Answer
    • Gen 25:23  And the LORD said to her, “Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you shall be divided; the one shall be stronger than the other, the older shall serve the younger  
  • Two nations/brothers:
    • Jacob: The Israelites  Gen 25:27 Jacob was a quiet, plain, peaceful man dwelling in tents 
    • He could cook 
    • Rebekah loved Jacob 
    • Esau: The Edomites (red)- Gen 25:25. The first came out red, all his body like a hairy cloak, so they called his name Esau. 

The way to salvation:

  • Hear: Romans 10:17
  • Believe: Hebrews 11:6
  • Repent: Acts 17:30-31
  • Confess: Matthew 10:32
  • Be Baptized: Mark 16:15-16
  • Be faithful unto death: Revelation 2:10
